First, I’d like to state that I was 100% wrong about the They’re Here viral campaign at theyrehere.net, and I am in no way sour about having been wrong. I’m actually quite proud of the fact that I did manage to figure out that Angus MacInnes was the actor from that little 1977 indie sci-fi/adventure flick who was involved in the project.

I will also fully admit that they tricked me good, so it was a successful campaign and for that, I congratulate them. While the viral campaign made it look as though it would be a film about aliens, it was something else entirely, check the video out below.

Their campaign was clever, and tricked a lot of people, I’m not sure that getting all of the entertainment news sites to pimp out their organization was the best tactic… while the video above is pretty cool, and I give them credit for their creativity – in the age of awesome indie sci-fi shorts like The Raven and Panic Attack!, all of geekdom is anxiously awaiting “the next big thing” so, I’m sure there are a bunch of irritated and disappointed readers out there that were less than inspired by their message.
