Ok, I know you’re probably tired of Batman 3 rumors already (me too) but, this one comes with a bit of prestige (get it?) and reliability. Seriously though, Alex over at FirstShowing has heard from a reliable source with a Warner Bros. studio casting grid which lists none other than The Riddler as a character in Christopher Nolan‘s (temporarily titled) Batman 3.
Alex reminds us that “A casting grid is used in the industry to keep production companies, agencies, etc. in the loop on a project’s progress and the roles available for actors to potentially take. These documents are used for business planning in the industry and by no means would use internet speculation to list a character that may not even appear in the film.”
His source goes on to say that the actor currently listed in the same grid to play the villain is Joseph Gordon-Levitt, whose status is listed as “interested.”
What does this all mean? Well, if true it means that The Riddler is definitely a villain in Nolan’s follow-up to The Dark Knight... it also means that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is interested in the part (and likely vice versa) but another actor could take the role between now and the start of production.
Maybe we’ll get lucky and get confirmation soon. Stay Tuned!
The Untitled Batman Project is slated to hit theaters on July 20th, 2012
