Over the past few days we’ve brought you reports about Marvel Studios not bringing back Edward Norton to reprise his role as The Hulk in their upcoming ensemble film The Avengers, along with the ensuing comments and the classy response from Norton himself on the whole debacle. Now we have word that his potential replacement could be Mark Ruffalo (Shutter Island, The Kids Are All Right).

Deadline is reporting that Ruffalo is “late-stage talks” to take on the role of The Hulk in the Joss Whedon directed film, The Avengers.

The Avengers is slated to hit theaters on May 4th, 2012.
