I’ve been expecting this, or a Leonardo DiCaprio in Batman 3 rumor to pop up somewhere along the road. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception) reportedly joked with director Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight) on the set of Inception about reading for the director’s next installment in the Batman franchise.

Hollywood Life reports that “It’s not 100% confirmed that he’s getting [the role of The Riddler] but there’s certainly talk about it. Joseph is definitely on the short list.”

The as yet Untitled Batman Project is slated to hit theaters on July 20th, 2012

Given Nolan’s taste for re-using actors in his various films, it’s not out of the realm of possibility. That being said, with The Dark Knight sequel so far off and the script has not even been completed so, you definitely have to take this with a dash of salt. Next rumor at bat (pun intended), Ellen Page as Harley Quinn!
