End of season spoilers for the CW show “Supernatural” come straight from showrunner Sera Gamble this week. Gamble lets loose that the height of the season finale will indeed involve a battle between Lucifer and Michael. She talks about the season closing “deathmatch”:
“We’re leading up to the big Death Match between Lucifer and Michael, which would cause the destruction of half the planet. Sam and Dean, of course, are trying to throw a wrench in the works, but these are the most powerful beings they’ve ever been up against, so their odds aren’t great. Sam comes up with an incredibly risky Hail Mary to defeat Lucifer, which involves spending some very creepy, violent, one-on-one time with the guy. Terrible for Sam, but pretty damn fun to watch.”
“Supernatural” has done exceptionally well for the CW recently, reaching its highest ever, leaping up 25% in adults in the demographic of 18-34 in a week-to-week outlook with strong improvement of 15% in women 18-49, 38% in female teens, and 15% in total viewers to 2.82 million this season. The show has been renewed for another season so there must be some sort of a world post-apocalypse!
[The Shake Down]
It’s not like we didn’t think it would come down to Lucifer vs. Michael, but the way Gamble describes this “Death Match” destroying half the planet conjures up “Dragon Ball Z” images in my head! But I hope that “Supernatural” won’t disappoint, but the end of the world is hard to get right. :crosses fingers:
Watch “Supernatural” on Thursdays on the CW, 9/8pm C.
