GAME OF THRONES – Catelyn Stark Recast For Series

The role of Catelyn Stark for the HBO television adaptation for George R. R. Martin’s “Game of Thrones” has been recast for the series. Michelle Fairley will now play the role of Catelyn, wife of Eddard Stark (played by Sean Bean), in place of Jennifer Ehle who held the role in the pilot.

The casting change reportedly has “nothing to do with Ehle’s acting ability, but simply a desire to go in a different direction when it comes to the matriarch of the family”.

Fairley will appear in the last two “Harry Potter” movies as Mrs. Granger, mother of Hermione Granger.

Production for the “Game of Thrones” television series will begin in the summer in Belfast, Ireland.
