Felicia Day has been cast in the starring role in one of SyFy’s re-imagining of classic fairy tales. “The Guild” creator and star will play the title character in “Red”, a spin-off of Little Red Riding Hood. SyFy summarizes “Red” as “a young woman who is a descendant of the real Little Red Riding Hood, brings her fiancé home, where he meets the family and learns about their business – hunting werewolves. He’s skeptical until bitten by a werewolf. When her family insists he must be killed, Red tries saving him.” “Red” also stars Kavan Smith (Major Evan Lorne of “Stargate Atlantis”) and Stephen McHattie (Original Nite Owl in “Watchmen”) .
“Red” will premiere in 2011 as part of SyFy’s series of re-imagined fairy tale films. The series began last month with “Beauty and the Beasts”, starring Estella Warren.
“Red” is not to be confused with the Amanda Seyfried sexy thriller, “The Girl With The Red Riding Hood”, directed by “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke and written by David Johnson (“Orphan”). It sounds like Seyfried’s film is a period piece.
