Star Trek writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have reportedly signed on to adapt Joe Hill’s comic book Locke & Key. The supernatural comic is illustrated by Gabriel Rodriguez and published under IDW. Locke & Key was nominated for an Eisner Award in 2009 in the category of ‘Best Limited Series’.
The story in Locke & Key (pick it up on Amazon) revolves around a group of three children who become the caretakers of Keyhouse, a mansion in New England that is full of secrets and magic. The kids discover doors that take them to different places, give them powers and even alter gender and skin color. But behind one door is a dangerously violent creature.
Kurtzman and Orci have been granted the rights to the property through a production deal with DreamWorks. The duo is currently at work on a sequel to Star Trek, a film adaptation of the View-Master toy and an update of Hawaii Five-O for CBS.
