The BBC television program, Blue Peter, is hosting a contest for Doctor Who fans to redesign the Tardis’ console that will be fabricated and used on set with the Matt Smith Doctor Who in an ep next year.
Kids ages 6-12 are invited to enter. The designs must be for a hexagonal console with household objects incorporated into the overall design. On the judging panel includes the new Doctor Matt Smith and also Edward Thomas, production designer for “Doctor Who”. Thomas gives his two cents for contestants:
“Don’t come along with a design that’s finished and too technical – it needs to have a lot of character. It’s about being clever with what you find around the house and make sure it really feels as if the Doctor has put it together.”
Tim Levell, editor for “Blue Peter”, states:
“This is the latest in a long line of collaborations between Blue Peter and Doctor Who. We know our viewers absolutely love [the show] and we hope to be blown away by the originality and creativity of their concepts.”
The winner will also get a chance to meet the new Doctor, Matt Smith! The contest concludes November 2nd. Click here for more details!
