The only thing that gets me more than a great and imaginative sci-fi movie, is when that movie goes out of its was to be as close as possible to science truth. Interstellar cannot film a black hole up close, OBVIOUSLY, but what it can do it seek the mathematical expertise of someone like Kip Thorne (who also executive produces). Check out the featurette below featuring added interviews with writer and director Christopher Nolan and his co-writer and brother Jonathan Nolan, producer Emma Thomas, and VFX supervisor Paul Franklin.
