Hopefully you caught Season 1 of BBC America‘s excellent undead series In the Flesh last year. Like many UK productions, its season was not our traditional 24 episodes or even the new-normal 13, but was billed last year as a three-night mini-series event. The new season will be six parts, likely at an hour-ish a piece.
If you haven’t yet seen last year’s inaugural season, check it out, or at least check out our review. In the Flesh has a fresh take on zombies, in that these undead, or ‘victims of Partially Deceased Syndrome,’ have been cured of the need to eat flesh, and have re-entered society. Society has not universally welcomed them back.

BBC AMERICA Announces Acclaimed Zombie Mini-Series, In The Flesh, Returns May 10
Published: March 26, 2014
BBC AMERICA’s critically acclaimed zombie mini-series, In The Flesh, returns for a second season, Saturday, May 10, 10:00pm ET/PT. Creator, Dominic Mitchell, reignites the world of teenager Kieren Walker (Luke Newberry), a PDS (Partially Deceased Syndrome) sufferer who continues in his struggle to find acceptance. The six-parter is a BBC AMERICA co-production with BBC Drama Production North. In the cauldron of Roarton, where the living and the undead have reached a fragile peace, Kieren is desperately keeping his head down and squirreling money into his ‘escape fund’ for Paris. But in the wider world, fear is in the air. The radical Pro-Living Party, Victus, is gaining government seats with a resulting spate of PDS Terrorism linked to the Undead Liberation Army (ULA). With the arrival of new and explosive characters from both Victus and the ULA, Kieren’s plans are thrown into disarray as both set their sights on him. He’ll find himself caught in the emotional crossfire, making his desire for a quiet life an unrealistic option.
Luke Newberry (The Legend Hercules) reprises his role as Kieren Walker and leads the cast together with Emily Bevan (The Thick of It) as Amy Driver, Harriet Cains (Doctors) as Jem Walker, Stephen Thompson (Doctors) as Philip Wilson, Kenneth Cranham (Maleficent) as Vicar Oddie, Kevin Sutton (Shameless) as Gary, Steve Cooper as Steve Walker, Marie Critchley as Sue Walker, Sandra Hugget as Shirley Wilson, Gerard Thompson as Dean and Gillian Waugh as Pearl Pinder. They are joined by new cast members, Wunmi Mosaku (Dancing on the Edge, I am Slave) playing local MP Maxine Martin and Emmett J Scanlan (The Fall, Hollyoaks) who plays charismatic disciple of the Undead Prophet, Simon.
In the Flesh, starring Luke Newberry, Emily Bevan, Harriet Cains, Stephen Thompson, Kenneth Cranham, Kevin Sutton, Steve Cooper, Marie Critchley, Sandra Hugget, Gerard Thompson, Gillian Waugh, Wunmi Mosaku, and Emmett J Scanlan, premieres Saturday, May 10 at 10/9c on BBC America.
