Congratulations to everyone involved in the production of my current favorite show Helix; the “plus 7” (DVR-watching) ratings for the show have reportedly shattered all previous viewing records for Syfy. That means congratulations are also in order for all those smart viewers, who have likely learned that this show is definitely one to watch at least twice every week.
In case you missed it, click here to read (or re-read) what series creator Cameron Porsandeh told SciFi Mafia about the series structure, and the fact that it was created with rewatches in mind, for those who are so inclined.
I have to say, it makes me a little sad to see other good shows subjected to the kind of analysis and scrutiny that Helix encourages. Sorry, clue-seeking American Horror Story: Coven fans, but that brooch was just a brooch. If you want to analyze a show, watch (and rewatch) Helix, and tell your clue-hunting friends to do the same.
You can start your analysis of Day 5, Episode 5, “The White Room,” with this look at the opening minutes, followed by a TV spot for the episode. I’ve also included a hilarious (and spoiler-filled, if you haven’t seen Day 4/Episode 4 yet) featurette about a certain something that happened last week. I don’t usually include the Syfy site videos because they’re so small and don’t resize well, but this one was not to be missed.

SO EXCELLENT.

Catherine Lemieux was a riot on the Helix panel at the press tour, and she’ll definitely be missed on the show. But hey, maybe she’ll be showing up in an hallucination or two! Here’s hoping.
Helix, starring Billy Campbell, Hiroyuki Sanada, Kyra Zagorsky, Mark Ghanimé, Jordan Hayes, Meegwun Fairbrother, Catherine Lemieux and Neil Napier, airs Fridays at 10/9c on Syfy.
