The first TV spot released for Orphan Black, back during the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special, was really just a date announcement. This second one has a bit more going on, though no clips yet. But we have a few months to go before the premiere, so we should expect a slow build.
Here’s a first look from the new season, followed by the TV spot first released by EW:
TV Spot: Orphan Black – S2 Animated Teaser
And the Season 2 synopsis:
Season two of ORPHAN BLACK hits the ground running with Sarah (Tatiana Maslany, Picture Day, Parks and Recreation) in a desperate race to find her missing daughter Kira (Skyler Wexler, Carrie). Her scorched earth tactics spark a war with pro-clone, Rachel (Maslany), dividing and imperiling all the clones. As Sarah discovers more about her past, mysterious newcomers appear, but can they be trusted? ORPHAN BLACK returns Saturday, April 19, 9:00pm ET as part of BBC AMERICA’s Supernatural Saturday.
And for fun, here’s a TV spot that BBC America posted to congratulate Tatiana Maslany for her Golden Globe nomination as Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama, which she so richly deserves:
TV Spot: Orphan Black – Congrats to Tatiana Maslany, Golden Globe Nominee
By the way, if you haven’t see Season 1 of this show, take the Amazon gift cards you hopefully received or will be receiving shortly and pick up this series. Get it shipped next day, because once you start watching it you won’t want to stop until you’ve seen all of it, and you’ll need some time to recover from your binge before heading back to work or school after the holidays. Here’s my review of the Blu-ray set for your reference (there’s also a link there to order it from Amazon).
The point is, not only is it a really excellent series that everyone should watch, but those of us who have watched and loved it want the rest of you to suffer through this wait until April just like we are.
Orphan Black, starring Tatiana Maslany, Jordan Gavaris, Dylan Bruce, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Michael Mando, Kevin Hanchard, Matt Frewer, and Skyler Wexler, premieres its Season 2 on April 19 at 9/8c on BBC America.
