That’s right, kids, the network that’s bringing you Arrow and may be bringing you Flash in series form – Flash will definitely be appearing on Arrow this season; the “may be” is whether a spinoff series will be picked up – is working on another series from the DC galaxy: Hourman.
According to THR, this version of Hourman has our hero as a “brilliant-yet-troubled pharmaceutical analyst” who has been plagued by visions since his childhood, and who comes to learn that those visions are actually glimpses of the future – one hour into the future. “Determined to win back his ex-wife and son, he heroically prevents these tragedies from unfolding, finding both purpose and redemption along the way.”
The DC Database describes Hourman thus:
Hourman is the legacy of a masked vigilante who uses a drug named Miraclo to give him incredible super-powers for exactly one hour. Rex Tyler is the original version, a scientist who created the chemical and fought crime during the Golden Age. Rick Tyler is his son and successor, the second Hourman. Matthew Tyler is a super-intelligent android created in the 853rd Century who traveled back into the modern era and held the position for several years. The character has been involved with the All-Star Squadron, Justice Society, Freedom Fighters and Justice League. Hourman was created by Ken Fitch and Bernard Baily, first appearing in Adventure Comics #48. (1940)
The pilot will be written by Michael Caleo (Ironside, The Sopranos). We’ll keep you posted about Hourman.
