I was a little skeptical about how much I would get into Pacific Rim when we first started seeing glimpses into the movie, but director Guillermo del Toro sums it up nicely in the featurette following the new Kaiju-tastic trailer we have for you today. “When I watched a monster movie, the money shot for me was the monsters.” And these monsters are awesome.

Pacific Rim directed by Guillermo del Toro and starring Ron Perlman, Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Clifton Collins Jr., Max Martini, Rinko Kikuchi and Diego Klattenhoff is slated to hit theaters on July 12th, 2013.
