After so much casting turmoil with speculation leaning towards Emma Watson (Harry Potter) and Saoirse Ronan (The Host) director Kenneth Branagh (who played Gilderoy Lockhart in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) has finally found the princess to fit the glass slipper in Disney’s live action Cinderella.

Though not a sci-fi show (YET, still holding out hope for alien invasion), Downton Abbey has been the most recent home of actress Lily James, who also played Korrina in Wrath of the Titans. Now, according to Deadline, she’s landed the lead role in the live action Cinderella for Disney.

Cate Blanchett (The Hobbit) is already attached to play the wicked stepmother, and hopefully with the Cinderella lead finally being cast, we’ll see more new casting announcements roll in quickly.
