Marvel Comics has announced a Young Avengers miniseries, with the possibility of an ongoing title to follow.
Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada announced the eight-issue miniseries during a special live edition of Cup O’ Joe at Toronto’s Fan Expo.
“Allan Heinberg is writing it,” said Quesada. “So stay tuned. We’re waiting for all the stories to be written and drawn. And Jimmy Cheung is the artist on it.
“This is Allan’s definitive Young Avengers arc. Once that’s done, you’ll see more Young Avengers, possibly in their own title. I can’t wait for the story to come out.”
The first series of Young Avengers – created by Heinberg and Cheung – suffered numerous delays, finishing in June 2006 two issues earlier than planned.
Various miniseries featuring the team have been published since – including tie-ins to the Civil War and Secret Invasion events – with an ongoing series long anticipated.
The new miniseries is expected next year.
