We’ve been telling you about what is, and what may be, for the next iteration of American Horror Story, which has not yet officially received a subtitle. Showrunner Ryan Murphy gave us some nice juicy bits after the press screening of the Asylum finale, including the fact that the new season would be “really about female power.”
According to TVLine, it looks like they are about to add one powerful woman to the cast, one who has not yet been part of the American Horror Story troupe: Oscar- and Emmy-winner Kathy Bates. Not much is known about her part beyond the fact that she will be playing a woman who is Lange’s character’s best friend but becomes her enemy.
The mind whirls. Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates together. As friends who become enemies. In a season that Murphy has stated will be funnier, in the way that Lange’s Constance was funny in Season 1. In other words, sharp-witted, sharp-tongued, and somewhat outrageous. Murphy also said back in January that he was talking with actors with whom Lange wanted to work, which now presumably includes Bates, so add that to the mix and yowie I CANNOT WAIT to see the new season!
American Horror Story Season 3, starring Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, Evan Peters, and Taissa Farmiga, is expected to premiere this fall on FX.
