Zachary Levi May Replace Josh Dallas As Fandral In THOR 2

Last week, we told you that Walt Disney Pictures had moved the release date up a week to November 8, 2013 for the sequel to 2011’s Thor. With Thor 2 due out in only less than a year and a half, Disney has got to lock in the cast as soon as possible. Of the previous cast, Chris Hemsworth (of course), Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Idris Elba, and Anthony Hopkins are all back for the sequel.

THR reports that Josh Dallas, who played Fandral, one of the Warriors of Three that have Thor’s back, will not be returning for the sequel. Dallas’ commitments to ABC’s Once Upon A Time have him declining to reprise the role, but this is an exciting opportunity for Chuck’s Zachary Levi. Marvel Studios has their eye on Levi to replace Dallas as Fandral. Actually, Levi had originally been approached with the role in 2010 but when Chuck got a late renewal, Levi couldn’t do both roles. Let’s hope Chuck can be our new Fandral!

Thor 2 will begin production in July with Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor at the helm and is slated to hit theaters on November 8th, 2013.
