Who Won at the Saturday Box Office? DOCTOR WHO or CATCHING FIRE?

I gave it away in the title, at first accidentally, and then I just left it in, because Whovians, you amaze me. On the biggest day in Doctor Who history since the creation of the show, the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who aired in select theaters and you flocked in droves big enough to crush an unsuspecting blockbuster, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

According to Deadline, the per screen average on Saturday for The Hunger Games sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was at $12,300 while the Doctor Who anniversary episode, The Day of the Doctor, averaged $13,607 per screen.

I’m a fan of both franchises, for sure, but this just warms my Whovian hearts.
