Westeros Comes to Smartphones! Game of Thrones App Lets You Explore the 7 Kingdoms

Whether your a fan of HBO‘s Game of Thrones or just hot for fantasy cartography, this is for you. Developer Sergey Rekuz has created an app that allows fans to explore George R.R. Martin‘s fantasy realms of Westeros and Valyria. I’ve played with the app extensively, and it’s a pretty cool concept. Users can simply type the name of any place GRRM has written about in A Song of Ice and Fire and the map will pinpoint the exact local for you; very helpful for the reader who can’t keep all these locales straight. What would really make this app a keeper would be a “sight seeing” feature that would allow users to read up on events that happened in specific places. Who wouldn’t like to read up on how Robert Baratheon smote Rhaegar Targaryen at the Trident, complete with some awesome artwork? Maybe in future releases.

Check out the official description below:

Enjoy the beautiful map of Westeros and Essos, continents of George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” fantasy series and HBO’s “Game of Thrones” TV movie.

Map contains both North and South of Seven Kingdoms as well as huge part of Essos with Free Cities, Valyria, Slaver’s Bay, Dothraki Sea and others. You are able to search by location’s name to quickly look where it is in huge SoIaF world. This can be very helpful when reading book or watching movie if you need recall about some place from GRRM’s books.

Westeros Map is available on iTunesAndroid Market and Amazon Appstore.
