Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner’s RED to Go from Movie to TV Series

Just last week, we brought you the news about Anthony Hopkins (Thor, Thor 2) being in negotiations to join the all-star cast of the Dean Parisot (Justified, Galaxy Quest) directed RED 2 as a genius scientist who was locked up in an insane asylum, opposite Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker and Helen Mirren, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byung-hun Lee.

Now, Deadline reports that Summit Entertainment/Lionsgate is looking to create television series out of some of their theatrical project, one of those being RED. While it’s doubtful they could get any of the big names from the films to star in a television version, it seems it would be easy to set a TV show in the same universe.

No word on when a RED series could appear on TV, but RED 2 is slated to hit theaters on August 2, 2013.
