Vin Diesel To Take RIDDICK Back To Its R Rated Roots

Last year, we brought you some cool concept art and the synopsis for the next possible installment in the Riddick franchise, simply titled – Riddick, to be directred by David Twohy and to star Vin Diesel. Now, Vin Diesel himself offered an update on the status of the project, and wants some encouragement from the fans.

Via his Facebook page:

“Grrrrr…[David Twohy] the writer/director just landed in New York with the good news. We can start filming this summer. However, there is a catch…in order for us to make a true R-rated film, I must work for scale upfront. Not unlike the Find Me Guilty experience (which I wouldn’t have changed for the world). Money is always second to art, integrity and spirit…but the real issue is deeper. Can I suspend my life, to momentarily venture to that dark place…called Riddick. Now, I need to hear from Our collective…you.”

“P.s. I am off to another meeting with David [Twohy], the director of Riddick… to see concept art and discuss the potential schedule.”

There you have it, if you want to see Riddick in all its R rated glory, head over to his Facebook page and let him know how bad you want to see it… and more importantly, see it done right without the chains of a PG-13 rating holding it back!

Synopsis:

Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.

Riddick is slated to hit theaters in 2012.
