UK Premiere Date Announced for DOCTOR WHO

What happy news to wake up to. Today, BBC One confirmed that, in the UK, the second half of Series 7 (“seasons” are called “series” there) of Doctor Who will, as has often been the case in the past, premiere on Easter weekend, March 30. We are still waiting to hear from BBC America as to whether we will be getting the US premiere on the same date.

As we told you in The SciFi Mafia Winter/Spring Primetime TV Schedule, new clone series Orphan Black is premiering on March 30 at 9/8c, worrisome because that’s the usual slot for Doctor Who. We speculated that Doctor Who would either premiere a week later and Orphan Black would move to the 10/9c slot, or that the Doctor would be taking a new time slot. Of those two choices, we definitely prefer a new time slot for the Doctor.

To keep us occupied while we wait for the glacially slow (we’ve been waiting hours!) announcement to arrive from BBC America, here is a look at the new opening, which debuted during the Christmas special last month:

Doctor Who, starring Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman, premieres WHEN? WHEN, BBC AMERICA?! – sorry, premieres sometime later this year but hopefully on March 30 at 8/7c on BBC America.
