Ah, the great Mudflap and Skids debacle of 2009. Of all the things wrong with director Michael Bay‘s sequel to his first Transformers film, nothing got people in quite the tizzy that these two Jar Jar Binks-like characters did. Some people thought they were just plain stupid and unnecessary comic relief, while others thought they were outright racist caricatures.
Bay has said previously that the Twins will not be appearing in his forthcoming final Transformers installment, Transformers: Dark of the Moon. After witnessing set pics (that we’ve shown you previously) that appear to show two identical cars, one with green accents and one with orange accents, we had our doubts about his claim that they wouldn’t be in the movie.
Now, apparently in an early review for the film, it was stated that the twins do in fact appear in the film… but wait! Michael Bay himself still says they aren’t, and he’s willing to put his money where his mouth is.
Bay posted on his own message boards at ShootfortheEdit.com, not only a denial but also put a bounty on the twins heads:
“After the internet posting of a nice review by someone who saw Transformers Dark of the Moon, the writer had not been clear on one thing. He misstated that the Twins are in the film. They are not.
So I am offering a $25,000 REWARD to anyone who can find them performing in Transformers 3, on July 1, when the movie opens.
Michael”
Transformers: Dark of the Moon starring Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey and Alan Tudyk is slated to hit theaters on July 1st, 2011.
