TOTAL RECALL: Ethan Hawke Signs On For Secret Cameo Role

Just last month, Kate Beckinsale (Underworld 4: New Dawn) was offered the role of Lori in director Len Wiseman‘s (Underworld 4: New Dawn, The World After) forthcoming, contemporized adaptation of the original Total Recall, which was based on Philip K. Dick‘s novelette, “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale”.

Now, THR reports that Ethan Hawke (Daybreakers, The Woman in the Fifth) has just signed on for a secret cameo role in the forthcoming reboot. While the original Total Recall followed a man haunted by a recurring dream of journeying to Mars who buys a literal dream vacation from a company called Rekall Inc., which sells implanted memories. The man comes to believe he is a secret agent and ends up on a Martian colony, where he fights to overthrow a despotic ruler controlling the production of air.

The new story reportedly involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai (instead of Mars), with Colin Farrell‘s, Douglas Quaid a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn’t know for which side.

Production on Total Recall is scheduled to begin in Toronto in June, and the film is slated to hit theaters on August 3rd, 2012.
