There’s a Tomorrow for Robbie Amell in THE FLASH

The Flash Robbie Amell firestorm wide

While I am still not entirely forgiving of The CW for canceling the fresh and entertaining The Tomorrow People, I’m of course pleased that the network is still upholding its standard of a nice big juicy slate of Our Kind of Shows, and has now scored extra points by recasting the star of the The Tomorrow People in one of the new series.

Robbie Amell, star of The Tomorrow People and, as we told you last year, cousin of Arrow star Stephen Amell, is joining the cast of Arrow spinoff The Flash, as Firestorm.

Presuming that The Flash is following its parent in using the comics more like guidelines than actual rules, who knows what “being Firestorm” will mean in the new series. According to the DC Wikia, here’s the comics version:

Firestorm is a nuclear-powered super-hero with the ability to transmute elements. The Firestorm Matrix is a composite of multiple people bonded together, originally college student Ronnie Raymond controlling the body and professor Martin Stein giving direction as an additional consciousness.

TV Line is reporting that he will indeed be Ronnie Raymond, fiance of S.T.A.R. Labs scientist Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), and “one half” of Firestorm, which should be excellent. Looks like Barry Allen may not have been the only person affected by that explosion…

Here’s another look at the extended trailer, which is unfortunately Robbie Amell-less, but still excellent:
