THE MAZE RUNNER Gets PG-13 Rating and We Check Out Promotional Stills

the maze runner wide

The Maze Runner due out this September is based on the first book in a series by James Dashner about a young man, not knowing who he is, who wakes up to find himself in an elevator that opens into a glade surrounded by a maze. It is a truly excellent book and it is no shocker at all that it has received a PG-13 rating by the MPAA.

Rated PG-13: For thematic elements and intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, including some disturbing images.

PG-13 is very fitting and totally expected. In fact if it had been rated PG I would have been completely worried that giant chunks of the movie important to the story would have to be lost, and as a YA novel adaptation there’s really no reason to even consider an R rating.

So let’s get to the promotional stills! We have several for you today, most with ominous questions scrawled over them, the first (Dylan O’Brien as Thomas alone) and last (Dylan O’Brien and director Wes Ball) pictures being the exception. I’m loving the mystery of it all. I like to keep things for the theater experience.
