We reported on this project just being announced this past summer and it’s gaining its cast pretty quickly. It’s enough for me that Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors) has signed on to be the title role in NBC‘s new series, Dracula. He’s an incredible actor and would be completely believable in playing a part such as this. Here’s the official synopsis of the show, and then keep reading for the latest casting news.

It’s the late 19th century, and the mysterious Dracula has arrived in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. He’s especially interested in the new technology of electricity, which promises to brighten the night – useful for someone who avoids the sun. But he has another reason for his travels: he hopes to take revenge on those who crossed him centuries earlier. Everything seems to be going according to plan… until he becomes infatuated with a woman who appears to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.

Newest added to the cast is Victoria Smurfit (About a Boy) as Lady Jayne who is reportedly in pursuit of Dracula according to Deadline. Pictured next to her above is Jessica De Gouw (Arrow) who will be playing Mina Murray whom Dracula believes to be the reincarnation of his dead wife, though she is already engaged to Johnathan Harker. Pictured next to De Gouw is Katie McGrath (Merlin) who plays Lucy Westenra, Mina’s best friend. Lastly is Game of Thrones actor Nonso Anozie who plays Dracula’s confidant, R.M. Renfield.

Stellar cast combined with a storyline that is ringing close to Bram Stoker’s Dracula in what we previously reported to be 10 episodes will be coming soon to NBC and we will keep you posted on any news and the air date for Dracula when they are made available.

Dracula, starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Victoria Smurfit, Jessica De Gouw, Katie McGrath, and Nonso Anozie, has not yet been scheduled by NBC.
