The Dark Knight Rises: Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Role Revealed!

Last month, we told you that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Live with It, Looper) was in talks to reunite with his Inception director Christopher Nolan in The Dark Knight Rises. As all details are kept close to the vest on Nolan’s projects, the role he was in talks for was unknown.

Now, Variety reports that Nolan has locked Joseph Gordon-Levitt for a role in the caped crusader’s third trip to theaters, under his watchful eye. The actor will reportedly be playing Alberto Falcone, otherwise known as the The Holiday Killer, and son of crime boss Carmine Falcone (played by Tom Wilkinson in Batman Begins).

The Holiday Killer was featured in the comic book story The Long Halloween, in which Alberto refuses a place at his father’s side in the Gotham Mafia, and then goes on a Halloween killing spree. He then continues to appear on various holidays, taking out members of the criminal underworld.  The Holiday Killer is then captured by Bruce Wayne after murdering Sal Maroni.

In other The Dark Knight Rises casting news…

Juno Temple (Killer Joe, The Three Musketeers) is reportedly being eyed for a role that’s only being described as “a street-smart Gotham girl.”

Christopher Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Goyer will also produce the film with Charles Roven and Nolan’s longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas.

The Dark Knight Rises is slated to hit theaters on July 20th, 2012.
