The Comic-Con Low Down On ‘Stargate: Universe’

stargate-universe-cast2Before any official news was out on “Stargate: Universe”, I was skeptical because there was  a rumor floating around that it might be a “Dawson’s Creek” sort of version with all young stars and CW-type drama (like that version of ‘Wormhole X-treme’).  Luckily for us, Syfy didn’t go that route!

Check out what the “Stargate Universe” panel at the San Diego Comic-Con 2009 had to reveal to us about the next installment of the Stargate franchise. (Squee! We get to meet the some of the cast!)

I don’t know about you, but I am well embedded into the Stargate franchise.  From what I see here, I am not disappointed!  So, this new Stargate promises to be “darker and grittier”… AND geekier!  It sounds like a lot of the Comic-Con panel attendees were actually not SG fans prior to the panel and that’s a good sign as well since that promises a new audience being brought into the Stargate fold.  As an old fan of SG-1, I’m especially eager to see Richard Dean Anderson and Amanda Tapping to make guest appearances on SGU.

With this trailer for SGU, I’m blown away and cannot wait for the premiere.  (Mental Note: Need to work on time machine.)

Stargate: Universe premieres October 2nd.
