SUPERNATURAL Creator Developing Web Series Spinoff Called GHOSTFACERS

I know “Supernatural” fans are already happy that the show creator, Eric Kripke is considering another season of the show, but how’s this to keep you going as well?  It has been confirmed that Kripke is developing a web-based spinoff to “Supernatural”.  This spinoff is reportedly called “Ghostfacers” and follows “a team of ghost hunters who tape their exploits in a documentary fashion”.

Kripke, McG’s Wonderland TV, and Warner Bros. TV’s Studio 2.0 will produce ten three-minute webisodes of “Ghostfacers” that will premiere on the WB and CW websites.

Wonderland head, Peter Johnson talks about the inspiration of this spin-off:

“It felt like the nature and style of what they do with their show-within-a-show would be fun to see in new media. It’s a fun, subversive way to allow these characters to play in the margins.”

Fans of the show will already be familiar with these ghost hunters.  These characters first appeared in the very first season of “Supernatural” on an episode called “Hell House” and again in season three’s episode called “Ghostfacers”.  The popularity of these Ghostfacers have inspired a convention in London York.

The first chapter of “Ghostfacers” will follow the ghost hunters as “they investigate a theater believed to be haunted by the ghost of a young starlet (played by “Nip/Tuck” alum Kelly Carlson)”.  The web series will also be accompanied by behind-the-scenes vids, gag reels, galleries, and featuettes with the actors.

Ghostfacers” stars A.J. Buckley (“CSI: NY“), Travis Wester (“Bones“), Brittany Ishibashi (“Supernatural“) and Austin Basis (“Life Unexpected“).  “Ghostfacers” stars Buckley and Wester also write for the web project with Patrick Doody and Chris Valenziano.
