Stephenie Meyer Teases About More Twilight Books… and About Mermaids

A bunch of Twi-hards got to sit in with Stephenie Meyer recently in a round-table discussion in Vancouver. The group talked about her books and what irons she has in the fire. One of the things that came up is an idea she has for a novel about mermaids.

“When I was growing up, I was obsessed with mermaids. I do have a very elaborate outline for a book. I’m not working on it right now, but I have the feeling it’s going to be big. It’s going to be 1,000 pages.”

Of course the discussion inevitably became about more Twilight novels. Meyer stated that she would not write any more books featuring Edward and Bella because she felt that story was finished. But when a fan asked her if Jacob and vampire-human hybrid Renesmee would be able to get busy and have a litter of were-vamps Meyer teased the crowd with the following statement:

“That is a question I’m reserving the right not to answer, because there is a chance I’ll go back to their story.”

I can hear the psychic squeals of joy reverberating through the space-time continuum. Or maybe that’s just my wife.
