SMALLVILLE Spikes Final Season With James Marsters, Darkseid, Deadshot and Hawkgirl

Adding to what is building up to a seriously awesome-sounding final season of the CW’s Smallville, the network has announced several other high profile cast members who will be returning for this tenth and final season of the show. James Marsters (Buffy, Angel, Caprica) will appear in the 200th episode of the series as Brainiac 5, a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes. Marsters’ character is described by exec producer Kelly Souders as “a slippery fish with a questionable moral compass.”

According to exec producer Brian Peterson, you’ll not want to miss the 200th episode for more reasons that Marster’s guest spot:

“[The 200th episode will be] one big event — and you have to wait for the last few minutes for it… [In it, we will] explore a little bit of the past, the present and the future. We kind of do a little look back to where we’ve been, and we also take a look at where Clark is going.”

This season’s big bad, DarkSeid is indeed coming, but what does this have to do with the Lane family? Casting news is that the Lane family will be having a little reunion on Smallville. Michael Ironside (Splinter Cell, Terminator Salvation) and Peyton List (FlashForward, Mad Men) will reprise their roles as General Lane and Lucy Lane respectively (father and sister to Lois) in an episode set to air in late October. The two were last seen in Season four separately. Ironside has a history with the Superman franchise – he voiced Darkseid in the animated series Justice League and Superman: The Animated Series. The General is in Lex Luthor’s employ so there is still a possibility for Lex to return for the final series. Michael Rosenbaum seems to have his hands full currently with Bruce Willis’ new film Catch 44.

In addition to the reappearance of Supergirl, Smallville is bringing you more characters from the DC Universe: Floyd Lawton aka Deadshot and Shayera aka Hawkgirl have been cast and will appear in the second episode of the new season. Sahar Biniaz (Blade: The Series, Sanctuary), who has had small roles in three past Smallville eps, will play Hawkgirl alongside Michael Shanks who is returning as Carter Hall aka Hawkman. Bradley Stryker (SGU, The OC) has been cast as Deadshot.
