Kevin Williamson’s The Secret Circle for the CW casts a spell with the announcement of Natasha Henstridge (Drop Dead Diva, Eli Stone) and Jessica Parker Kennedy (Fairly Legal,Smallville) joining the cast. The CW is hoping for the same sort of magic that made The Vampire Diaries a hit for the network with another adaptation of a L.J. Smith series with Williamson at the helm.

The Secret Circle follows a young girl named Cassie (Britt Robertson) “who moves to a new town and discovers that not only is she a witch and part of a secret coven, but she’s also the key that will unlock a centuries-old battle of good versus evil.”

Henstridge will play Dawn Chamberlain, “Vice Principal of New Salem High School, who was once a friend of Cassie’s  mother and knows all about the secret coven of witches that has ruled the town for over 300 years. Kennedy, who you may remember played Plastique in Smallville, has been cast as Melissa, one of the witches of the coven. She joins Australian actress, Phoebe Tonkin [pictured below] who will play Faye, another member of the witchy circle .

As we previously reported, Thomas Dekker (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) has been cast as Cassie’s love interest and is the leader of the coven.
