Sam Raimi Will Not Helm WORLD OF WARCRAFT Movie

Almost three years ago to the day, we told you that Sam Raimi had signed on to direct Warcraft, the live-action film adaptation of the fantasy videogame franchise World of Warcraft. Unfortunately for WOW fans, Raimi had some bad news on the topic.

At Comic-Con 2012 in San Diego, the director stated that he was not going to be directing Warcraft due to conflicts in scheduling with his work on Oz: The Great and Powerful that comes out next spring. In an interview with CraveOnline, Raimi made this statement:

“Actually, they don’t have me directing World of Warcraft anymore because when I took the Oz job, they had to move on to another director. They had to start making it.”

There has been no official comment from Blizzard Entertainment or Legendary Pictures on who the new director is.
