Could Dame Helen Mirren play the 12th Doctor? Of course she could. Will she? Meh, who knows? According to a gossip publication – so again, who knows – she said she’d love to. It’s a tiny little article and has no context, so she may have just been trying to get them to go away. On the other hand, HOW COOL IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN!
Here’s the quote from Daily Star – in fact, here’s the entire article, entitled HELEN MIRREN THINKS TIME DR WHO CHANGED:
The legendary actress, 66, told us: “I would like to play the new female Doctor Who. I don’t want to just be his sidekick.” That’d be worth a watch.
Below that article you can find links to articles entitled “Sex Orgy Secret of My Party Girl” and “My Girl Had Sex With Everyone”. So, you know, the credibility is every-so-slightly tinged.
But if she actually wants it, I think she’d be an amazing Doctor, and I roll my eyes at those who are calling for her to be a companion. Please. This is Helen Mirren, folks. Dame of the British Empire. And yes, that’s an Oscar she’s holding in the picture above. Companion? I think not. What do you think?
Doctor Who: The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe premieres December 25, 2011 at 9/8c on BBC America.
