In late October, we brought you news of Sam Reid’s (Whitechapel, Anonymous) casting in Warner Bros/ Legendary Pictures’ big-screen adaptation of John Milton’s epic 17th-century poem, Paradise Lost. Now, we have news of a reunion of a familiar face, working again with director Alex Proyas (Knowing, The Crow).
Variety reports that Rufus Sewell, who starred in Proyas’ 1998 sci-fi noir Dark City, has been cast as the archangel Samael, “Lucifer’s partisan who urges him to start the rebellion in Heaven.” Sewell joins the cast of Bradley Cooper, Benjamin Walker, Djimon Hounsou, Casey Affleck, Callan McAuliffe, Dominic Purcell, Sam Reid, Diego Boneta and Camilla Belle.
Lucifer (Bradley Cooper) and Michael (Benjamin Walker), God’s greatest archangels, share the bond of extraordinary friendship until God produces his greatest creation: Man. Unable to remain subservient to God if it means bowing down to humanity, Lucifer begins his dark descent and is cast out – only to plot his revenge.
