Ridley Scott to Direct New BLADE RUNNER Film

Back in March, we brought you the news when Warner Bros.-based financing and production company Alcon Entertainment co-founders and co-Chief Executive Officers Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove had acquired the film, television and ancillary franchise rights to produce prequels and sequels to the 1982 Ridley Scott directed science-fiction thriller, Blade Runner., which was based on the Philip K. Dick novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

Andrew Kosove said at the time,

“We haven’t met Ridley Scott, but the thought of re-engaging with his artistic vision is very exciting, and [him directing] is something we think would be wonderful.”

Now, Deadline reports that director Ridley Scott has indeed committed to direct and produce a new Blade Runner movie for Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment. Though the project doesn’t have a writer on board yet, Scott will begin working on the project immediately following his forthcoming sci-fi film Prometheus.

It is so far unknown whether the film will be a prequel, sequel or a reboot of the classic film.
