Rachel Weisz and Colin Farrell To Star in LOBSTER

Another day, another dystopia. These films seem to be growing in popularity lately and I’m not complaining. Today we have news of a fledgling dystopian flick to keep your eyes on. We’ll be keeping a keen eye on news for Lobster, starring Colin Farrell (The Winter’s Tale) and Rachel Weisz (Oz: The Great and Powerful).

Element Pictures and Limp and Scarlet Films are producing the film, co-written and to be directed by Oscar-nominated Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos (Dogtooth). The film is to be a love story under pressure, where not being married is a death sentence. And according to THR, Ben Whishaw, Lea Seydoux, Olivia Colman, Ariane Labed and Aggeliki Papoulia are also already cast in the film.

As a side note, reading about this movie caused me to be completely overwhelmed with nostalgia for the scene in the show Friends where Ross (David Schwimmer) is pining over Rachel (Jennifer Anniston) and Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) tell him not to worry, “She’s your lobster,” comparing their relationship to the life long mating of lobsters.

I think my age is showing.

We’ll keep you posted on the latest for Lobster starring Rachel Weisz and Colin Farrell.
