R.I.P. Joe Kubert

Joe Kubert, legendary comic book artist, and father of comic book artists Andy Kubert and Adam Kubert has passed away at the age of 85. Kubert is probably best known for creating Sgt. Rock, Enemy Ace and Tor, and recreating DC’s Hawkman. Kubert was inducted into the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1997, and Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1998.

Kubert, along with his wife Muriel (who passed away in 2008) opened The Kubert School in New Jersey in 1976. The school is the only accredited institution devoted entirely to cartooning, and teaches the principles of sequential art, the craft of the comics industry, and commercial illustration.

Kubert leaves behind five children, Andy, Adam, David, Lisa, and Danny.

On behalf of the writers and Mob of readers here at SciFiMafia, our hearts go out to Joe Kubert’s family, friends and legion of fans that span generations –  Joe’s legacy will live on through his art and immensely talented children.
