One of the summer’s most anticipated blockbusters will not be released this year at all. Paramount Pictures’ G.I. Joe sequel, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, starring Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis and more, is being pushed back in order to make it into a 3D movie in post-production.
According to Deadline, Paramount is pushing the release date of G.I. Joe: Retaliation to March 29, 2013. What is the reason for the sudden push a month from the original release date? The studio hopes to rake in a bigger foreign box office by making this a 3D film. The studio had already begun kicking the promotion the film into high gear with the original June 29th release date closing in, including buying Super Bowl commercial time. Paramount will undoubtedly have to reassess its advertising strategy due to this move.
