PARADISE LOST: Sam Reid Joins the War Between Archangels Lucifer and Michael

Earlier this month, we brought you news that Dominic Purcell (Straw Dogs, Prison Break) had joined the cast of Legendary’s adaptation of John Milton’s epic 17th-century poem, Paradise Lost, directed by Alex Proyas. Now, we’ve got another archangel to add to the cast line-up.

According to Variety, Australian-British actor Sam Reid (Whitechapel, Anonymous) has been cast as Raphael “one of the lesser quartet of archangels beneath Lucifer (Bradley Cooper), Michael (Benjamin Walker) and Gabriel (Casey Affleck). Ever the skeptic, he warns Michael against trusting that Lucifer can be redeemed.”

Reid joins the cast of Bradley Cooper, Benjamin Walker, Djimon Hounsou, Casey Affleck, Callan McAuliffe, Dominic Purcell, Diego Boneta and Camilla Belle.

Lucifer (Bradley Cooper) and Michael (Benjamin Walker), God’s greatest archangels, share the bond of extraordinary friendship until God produces his greatest creation: Man. Unable to remain subservient to God if it means bowing down to humanity, Lucifer begins his dark descent and is cast out – only to plot his revenge.

Paradise Lost begins production at the turn of the year in Sydney is slated to hit theaters in 2013.
