Original BLADE RUNNER Writer to Pen Sequel for Ridley Scott

Last fall, we brought you the news when director Ridley Scott (Prometheus) was brought on board by Warner Bros. Pictures and Alcon Entertainment to direct the forthcoming Blade Runner film. The legendary director also confirmed that the film “is liable to be a sequel,” that wouldn’t feature any of the original cast, even the lead character, Rick Deckard.

Now, THR reports that original Blade Runner writer Hampton Fancher is in talks to pen the as yet Untitled Blade Runner Project, which is now confirmed to be set “some years after the first film concluded”.

In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, Scott also confirmed a detail about the sequel, which will set it apart from the original.

Scott said,

“we’ll definitely be featuring a female protagonist”

No production or release dates have been announced for the Untitled Blade Runner Project.
