ABC’s No Ordinary Family performed strongly as the top rated family show on major networks. The super-powered family drama debuted with 10.5 million viewers last week in one of the most competitive time slots, going up against Fox’s Glee, NBC’s The Biggest Loser, and CBS’ NCIS. We shall see if the show’s broad appeal can retain viewers, but it is refreshing to see a superhero show for families to enjoy.

Along those lines, No Ordinary Family’s top competitor may well be NBC’s The Cape, set to debut in November.

Jim (Michael Chiklis) attempts to track down some elusive bank robbers, Stephanie (Julie Benz) looks into discovering the source of the family’s newly acquired powers, and Daphne (Kay Panabaker), trying to find a way keep the voices in her head from drowning out her ability to read minds, discovers that JJ (Jimmy Bennett) has become a super genius but is hiding it from the family. Meanwhile Jim and Stephanie not only keep their powers a secret from the world but from each other too, as Stephanie discovers Jim has become a crime fighter and Jim finds out that Stephanie has used her new power of speed — after promising not to.
