Set your DVRs, people:  BBC America will be airing all six episodes of season one of “Being Human” on Monday, September 21st, starting at 11am EST.

This summer, BBC America swept the sci-fi TV landscape with a powerhouse of “Torchwood- Children of Earth” and a new show, “Being Human”.  I must say that for me, “Being Human” takes the prize for best new show on television thus far.  Each installment of this series has addressed social and personal issues for each of the characters that reach out to our daily lives as humans.  I have found “Being Human” to be engaging, thought-provoking, and rich in character development.

One of the aspects of the show that I think they tangle with very well is the metaphors they draw with each of the main character’s supernatural conditions that parallel real life human conditions:
– Mitchell, the vampire = addiction
– George, the werewolf = social dysfunction/ awkwardness
– Annie, the ghost = lack of identity/ forward direction

The writers for “Being Human” do a remarkable job with this show.  If you’re not familiar with the show yet, check out our coverage here:

“Being Human” is currently filming their second season in Bristol, UK.  More news to come as it rolls in!  If you are on Twitter, follow actresses, Lenora Crichlow who plays Annie and Sinead Keenan who plays George’s girlfriend, Nina.
