New STAR WARS Comedy Series Features Original Cast Post RETURN OF THE JEDI

At C2E2 in Chicago, an announcement was made from Lucasfilm’s Director of Fan Relations, Steve Sansweet that is bound to excite every “Star Wars” fan. As SciFi Mafia reported to you earlier this month, an animated “Star Wars” television comedy series is being developed with the “Robot Chicken” creative team. Who will this new TV series follow? Sansweet drops this bomb: You will be seeing Luke, Han, and Leia in this new animated series!

Sansweet indicated that the new animated series will follow the original cast of “Star Wars” post “Return of the Jedi”.

Lucasfilms is working with Seth Green and Matthew Senreich of “Robot Chicken” along with producer and daytime Emmy and Gemini Award winner Jennifer Hill (“The Backyardians”), director Todd Grimes (“Back at the Barnyard”), and writer Brendan Hay (“The Daily Show”).

Sansweet did mention an interesting twist about the future of the “Star Wars” universe – earlier in the Q&A conference at C2E2, he mentioned that “not everyone who dies in sci-fi stays dead.” This comment was not made in reference to the animated TV comedy series, but it sure makes you wonder what he’s talking about! He added that this would be explained in the next three to four years.

What do you think of this news? What do you think his enigmatic comment was meant to tell us?
