Neal McDonough Confirms His Role In Captain America: The First Avenger

Just last week, we brought you a report that Neal McDonough (Band of Brothers) was reportedly in talks for a role in Marvel StudiosCaptain America: The First Avenger, directed by Joe Johnston. In a recent interview the actor confirmed that he would in-fact join the cast as Dum Dum Dugan, alongside Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Sebastian Stan and Hayley Atwell.

Interview: Neal McDonough

McDonough stated,

“I’m so excited — I’m playing Dum Dum Dugan, It’s going to be a blast with Chris [Evans], Sam Jackson, Tommy Lee Jones and everyone else. It’s going to be fantastic. We’re going to tear it up!”

In the interview, the actor states that he will be wearing Dugan’s trademark bowler hat and he is already growing Dugan’s signature mustache.

McDonough also said that, “at this point” the squad will be called the Howling Commandos but cautioned,

“I’m not sure at this point. It may change — I’m reading a few things that it might change, All I know is that I’m going to kick some butt and it’s going to be a blast.”

McDonough revealed,

“”Oh, I’m going to see a lot of action. [I’m] the go-to guy, so I’m very happy with that.”

Like many actors in the Marvel movie universe, McDonough has signed to play Dugan in multiple films, though he’s only looking at Captain America at the moment.

McDonough said,

“You sign up for future movies ahead of time, but you just keep praying, I’m so fortunate to be part of something like this. If there are more to come, great. If not, I’ve got a great job and I’ve got the greatest wife at home — that’s what makes me happy.”

I totally dig how grateful, excited and humbled McDonough is by being cast in Captain America and that he understands the importance of his character and how iconic the bowler hat and mustache are.
