MAN OF STEEL: Russell Crowe Says Jor-El To Fight General Zod

Back in June, Russell Crowe (The Man with the Iron Fists) was cast as Jor-El, the biological father of Clark Kent/Superman (Henry Cavill) in the Zack Snyder directed, Warner Bros. reboot of the Big, Blue Boyscout – Man of Steel. Earlier this month, we brought you the first images of Crowe on the set of the film in all of his Kryptonian gear.

If you were thinking that we would be seeing just a rehash of the scenes previously acted out by Marlon Brando in Richard Donner’s original, Superman: The Movie, you were apparently way off. Crowe himself took to Twitter to tease fans about what his day as Jor-El included.

Crowe said,

“15km bike ride, umpteen hours fighting Michael Shannon. He’s very hard to put down.”

“Hard to tell who wins, we are still fighting tomorrow.”

After being asked about his weekend plans and whether or not Superheroes pause for pub singing, Crowe said –

“Stay around for the Saturday. That really is the only day I can guarantee you any time . I’m trying to save a planet here.”

“Alas, I’m no superhero.Just related to one.”

Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams as Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as The Daily Planet’s editor-in-chief, Perry White, Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Clark Kent’s adoptive parents, Martha and Jonathan Kent. Michael Shannon as the villainous General Zod, Antje Traue as Zod’s evil partner, Faora, Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van, Superman’s mother, and Russell Crowe as Superman’s father, Jor-El.

Man of Steel is slated to hit theaters on June 14th, 2013.
