Madagascar Director Takes On Fox’s RENTAGHOST With Ben Stiller

Back in October of last year, we brought you news that 20th Century Fox would adapt the British comedy series Rentaghost with Ben Stiller headlining. Stiller would reunite with Night at the Museum writers Tom Lennon and Robert Ben Garant on this project about a “supernatural firm called Rentaghost, which rented out spirits for a variety of tasks.”

Variety reports that animation director Tom McGrath (Madagascar, Megamind) is in negotiations with the studio to direct Rentaghost. This film would be McGrath’s first foray into directing a live-action film. Stiller worked with McGrath on all three Madagascar films, lending his voice to Alex the lion.

As previously announced, Stiller would “play an American turnaround consultant who is sent to the UK to reinvigorate a failing company.” Fox has hopes that Rentaghost will be its next successful family franchise of films.

No release date has been announced for Rentaghost.
